A poetic, polyphonic composition exploring grief, memory, resistance, and identity, The Corridor is structured around the universal experience of farewell – not only as the loss of a loved one, but also as the gradual fading of those conditions that shape human existence: youth, security, desire, freedom, and, above all, the sense of belonging. A “corridor” that functions as a metaphor for the journey of life; a space of transition, trial, and transformation, where the familiar coexists with the unfamiliar, and tenderness with threat. Between beginning and end unfolds a fluid in-between space, an architecture of an inner landscape: a purgatory, a psychological labyrinth where fears, vulnerabilities, and aspirations coexist and intertwine.

Through this stage journey, the work investigates questions surrounding absence and grief, time and ageing, marginalisation, and the ability of art to move beyond personal experience and engage with collective concerns. In this sense, the stage becomes a site of resistance against violence, fascism, and systemic discrimination.

Within a constantly shifting landscape, the performers carry the traces of memory in their bodies, confront their inner limits, and embark on a process of continuous reconstruction. Without seeking definitive answers, The Corridor emerges as a space for reflection and introspection. Activating the audience’s memory and emotions, it is transformed into a deeply personal experience: a passage through loss, transformation, and existential solitude; a path that, ultimately, each person is called upon to traverse alone.

The work premiered in Cyprus with the support of the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cyprus, through the “Terpsichore 2026” programme for the support of creation and research in contemporary dance. It was subsequently selected for presentation at the 2026 Athens Epidaurus Festival.
