Souvenirs
The Nicosia International Festival joins forces with the Mitsikouri Festival to present a beautiful, moving and universally resonant performance about silent emotions and their transformation
into something visible, tangible and deeply understood.
More Information
Souvenirs is a poetic, non-verbal performance for audiences of all ages. Combining dance, physical theatre, live shadow theatre and video projection, Claire and Antho explore memories, dreams, loss and the experiences we carry with us through light, movement, silhouettes and shifts in perspective.
A man returns to his memories and to the moment he first met the woman he loved. His recollections unfold into theatrical spaces: an apartment, the rooftops of a city, a metro carriage and a bus stop. The two performers symbolically open their luggage and confront the experiences that have shaped their lives and their choices. For him, this emotional weight is rooted in childhood. For her, it stems from her profound sensitivity towards people and the world around her. Together, however, they dance, laugh, remember and strive not to abandon their dreams.
With humour, tenderness and a cinematic aesthetic, the two performers tell a story without words, creating a universal theatrical world that is accessible to audiences of all ages, regardless of language.
The French artistic duo Claire Théault and Anthony Figueiredo combines dance, shadow theatre and visual illusion to tell deeply human stories. Their work, which has received enthusiastic acclaim wherever it has been presented around the world, sensitively portrays the hidden struggles of the human psyche: anxiety, self-doubt, emotional burdens and the shadowy parts of ourselves that we so often conceal from others. At the same time, it reveals the power of connection, vulnerability and healing. Through striking stage imagery, the two artists remind us that light and darkness coexist, and that facing our inner conflicts together can become a source of strength and hope.
Together:
A luminous path between the shadows.
Running time: 70 minutes, no intermission
