GOODBYE LINDITA
GOODBYE LINDITA
Following the awarding of the Silver Lion at the Venice Theatre Biennale, Mario Banushi comes to Nicosia with the production that has captivated audiences and critics around the world.
More Information
Following sold-out performances and rave reviews in Athens, where it premiered, as well as at major festivals and leading theatre venues in Belgrade, Dresden, Amsterdam, Adelaide, Madrid, Munich, Stockholm, Vienna, Berlin and Venice, Goodbye, Lindita, Mario Banushi’s award-winning creation, arrives in Nicosia.
One of the most distinctive theatrical works to emerge from contemporary European performance, Goodbye, Lindita centres on a fundamental human experience: the loss of a loved one. Inside a house, a family mourns in silence, until a series of strange, almost otherworldly events opens a window onto a world where memory intertwines with imagination and reality merges with dreams. Drawing on personal experiences and memories of Balkan funeral rituals, Mario Banushi, together with an ensemble of exceptional performers, approaches this inescapable dimension of existence through an atmosphere of profound, almost sacred silence.
The wunderkind of Greek theatre comes to the Nicosia International Festival just two months after receiving the prestigious Silver Lion at the 2026 Venice Theatre Biennale. His work has been praised by international media including the BBC, The New York Times, The Guardian and Le Monde, which have highlighted both the handcrafted visual universe of his productions and the emotional power with which he transforms deeply personal experiences into collective ones.
Do not miss this extraordinary theatrical experience, which has profoundly moved thousands of spectators around the world.
“I want to create theatre that people feel, not theatre they simply understand.”
