All of (Y)our Time

An unapologetic dance act brings into focus the question: How much is my/our dance worth here and now? The answer lies in the very title of the work. In a world where “time is money” and human life is devalued in the pursuit of profit, Konstantina Skalionta draws on contemporary theoretical approaches to the value of artistic labour under capitalism, where dance is undervalued, as its ephemeral and immaterial nature cannot easily be accommodated within the logic of production and profit. The choreography explores the vulnerability of artists while reclaiming the dancing body as a political and social body – one that deserves visibility beyond the confines of the theatre. Their dance is neither another Rite of Spring, demanding the sacrifice of one for the many, nor another Dance of Zalongo, an act of despair born of having no choice. It is an act of appearance, a political statement and a claim for the value of existence itself.

Konstantina Skalionta creates choreographic works through processes of improvisation, writing and drawing. She approaches performance as a dynamic site of appearance and political expression, exploring socio-political dimensions of identity, vulnerability and coexistence in dialogue with dramaturg Rodia Vombolou. Her work has been presented in Cyprus, Italy and the United Kingdom in collaboration with organisations including Rialto Theatre, Dance House Lemesos, Dance House Lefkosia, Nea Kinisi, Majestic State Gallery, The Place and Rich Mix in London.

*You can enjoy the double bill featuring the shows All of (Y)our Time & Residue  in its entirety with a single combined ticket, or choose one of the two dance performances with an individual ticket.
