Founded in 2019, the Nicosia International Festival has continued to evolve, establishing itself as a dynamic meeting point for contemporary artistic creation from Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus.

Through a programme that responds to global artistic trends while striking a balance between internationally acclaimed artists, voices from the Cypriot arts scene, new commissions and significant revivals, the Festival fosters an ongoing dialogue between artists, works and audiences.

DNA

The DNA of the Nicosia International Festival is reflected in the values that shape its artistic programme and activities. Aligned with the long-term cultural strategy of the Municipality of Nicosia, the Festival:

• presents a broad spectrum of artistic practices, bringing audiences into contact with internationally acclaimed artists and cultural organisations;
• promotes inclusion, equal participation and acceptance, regardless of nationality, age, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or any other characteristic;
• supports and showcases artists who live and work in Cyprus, with a particular focus on the next generation of creative practitioners;
• champions freedom of thought, freedom of expression and artistic freedom, as well as every form of individual and collective freedom.

 

Team

The Nicosia International Festival is based at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, where a dedicated team works year-round across artistic programming, production, communications and marketing, development, and operations.

During the preparation and delivery of each edition, the core team is joined by producers, technicians, collaborators, interns, volunteers and temporary staff, forming a broad network of professionals whose expertise and commitment make the Festival possible.

The Nicosia International Festival is organised by Nicosia for Art Ltd.
